We bought a used 2001 Escape and there is no spare time. Besides the local "used parts yard" does anyone know of a good, inexpensive source for a spare tire with rim?
Also, are there other model Fords that use the same spare?
I can't find a cross-reference that tells what other Fords have the same size temporary spare, but I can tell you that you need a T135/90Rx17 temporary spare tire mounted on a 17" x 4" temp. spare wheel. And yes, the local junkyards are your best bet.
I'm in the same boat with 2 trucks, antique spares and rusty rims from being under the truck for decades. Hate to spend money for a new tire especially if it's going under the bed to die. As long as size and weight carrying capacity matches that's what I'd go with. I have multiple spares for both trucks and when towing I throw a spare spare in the bed. I have had a flat when towing and it's much easier to slide it out of the bed than crawl under the truck. Nice to know you have 2 spares when traveling, I have 2 spares for my trailer also. I've had a flat on my trailer when starting a trip and ended up going home instead as I didn't want to travel without a spare.
