Had 2 of the Flexplate to TC studs strip. Hardly any threads left on them at all. They are side by side.Happened while replacing flexplate. Not sure where to go from here.
A really good machine shop could cut those off and weld on new ones. Or you could replace the converter.
Hoping to get away from replacing converter. $$$$$ is tight right now. Had all the nuts snugged and when I went to do my final tightening these 2 went from getting tight to getting loose. Thought it was the nuts at first. Had to get a very small flat blade screw driver under them to get them to back off. thats when I saw that it was the studs. They stripped off the first part of the stud threads when taking nuts off.
Poss drill them out and nut and bolt it or if not enough room for a nut tap the hole with a flat bottom tap and install new studs with locktite so they wont come out with the nuts i would do all three the same if you go this route. Just a temp fix until you can swing a new converter
Do you have enough stud exposed to stack a washer or two there to space the nut out to where it can engage good threads? That and some locktite along with a lot less force tightening the nut might work...
Was hoping to have enough thread to do the washer, but not even close. The one I pryed on got cockeyed coming off and the other chood thread the entire time I was taking it off. I have a slightly smaller fine thread dye that I borrowed to see if I can rethread them.
