I hadn't forgotten about ya'll!!

Got the part yesterday afternoon and installed it after much difficulty ( and cursing by hubby ). Haven't run enough yet to see results....

The plug and play is not as easy as it was made to sound...Where it is located on our truck, up under windshield, there is no wiggle room and absolutely no play on the plug ends. Very difficult to get the plugs in. Finally had to do the tie strap trick to get the last one in. I had to do it cause my hands were smaller and could fit all the way back. But we did it!!

Oil leak seems to have been a sloppy oil change. Hubby cleaned it up with a little degreaser and we have not seen any more leakage.

Thanks for all the advice. Will let you know how we like the FICM after we have run it a bit...

Laura

Haven't seen THAT trick in a long time - service center dribbles some used oil around after a simple job and look for the mark to come back for a BIG repair bill!!! That was a nice trick back in the 50's!

Great update!
Set of heavy duty rhino ramps and you are
set to do your own maintenance! Lots of
Advantages of doing things yourself.
Strongly recommend the sg2 to monitor
engine vitals too. I had a check engine
light, read the code and realized i had not
Plugged in the intake air temp sensor all
The way. Great peace of mind...

It was an independant oil change shop we go to. First time this happened. I will mentionit to the owner next time.

Also plan on getting the scanner tool...will come in handy I think.

Agreed... the Scan Gauge II is a great help with the 6.0 engine!

Laura did you and your husband remove the Degas (aka coolant bottle)? Once that was out of the way it was not to bad of a job.

We disconnected the hose and moved it over as far as it would go. The biggest problem is that there was no play in the plugs to get a good grip and push them in. It was much more difficult than anticipated compounded by no space. But we finally got it.
