2002 7.3 f350 oil leak back near top of engine

i have oil leaking from near the top of my engine on the backside. it is not the high pressure oil pump, that was repaired. it leaks about 1 quart every 6 weeks. while i was having my starter replaced the mechanic looked at it and said it might be the intake manifold or head gasket because they were wet with oil. there is no oil in the anitfreeze and no antifreeze in the oil. not losing any antifreeze, just oil. engine seems to run mormal. no codes. is this something to worry about and what could the cost be to fix it? thanks

well. it might be a turbo pedestal leaking or turbo orings, get a set of ornigs for turbo and pedestal , and make sure you EBPV Exhause Back Preassure Valve is not leaking too, they are known to do it. check with the flashlight if you have oil on the top of the motor - in the Valey.

BTW Welcome To FTE.....

Question oil leak

I degreased the engine and spayed it off. i don't immediately see any oil leaks after drivind it for about an hour. if it was a rear main seal leak could that spray oil on the backside of the engine near the top also? thanks

Not likely. I do a whole lot of reading here and think I have only read of one possible rear maim leak. But usually a rear main leak head straight down.

I had the same problem about 5 years ago and it ended up being the turbo pedistal.
