I got my 2004 truck in mid 2009, replaced the ICP that fall. The ICP sensor has failed again. This seems to be a common problem, are there any better, more durable options other than OEM?
What oli filter and cap do you have?
The aftermarket ones can let dirty oil
past and give you problems.
Sean
Huh? Are u thinking of the 7.3? 03 to 04,icp was located at the back of the motor? Have they or you replaced the pigtail for it? Ahh misdiagnosis. Ive done it myself....dont feel bad..... Replace the pigtail bud.....

Huh? Where did you get anything about a pigtail out of what Yahiko said? And for what its worth the late model 04 had the ICP in the passenger side oil rail.
As stated in original post: Are there any better, more durable aftermarket replacement ICPs? And yes, I did replace the pigtail in 09. Truck is early 04, under turbo.

03 04 had them at the back of the engine. And the oil filter has nothing to do with a icp going bad.. 5,6 and 7 had them on pass side.

No,there isnt a better option. Like dude said,do you maintain your truck? Regular? Ive had them fail one after the other tho. Not very often. What makes you think its your icp? You could be seeing that icp code due to a faulty pump or an internal oil leak.

Sorry i was speaking to OP. Usually if you suspect icp, replace icp and its still bad then its good practice to replace pigtail. Sorry ill explain myself better next time.

Actually the late model 04's had them in the passenger side valve cover, the early 04's had them behind the turbo, I think were Sean was going with the filter idea is that some of the aftermarket oil filters didn't shut the drain back valve in the bottom of the filter housing not allowing the oil to be properly filtered and sending dirty oil to the ICP. Ohhh okay...i was thinkin he thought (like the 7.3) fuel/oil gettin on the wire would cause chaffing....well,fuel drippage wud cause this on a 7.3.
But at any rate. That would have to be some trashy oil to plug up or harm a psi sensor. Once oil breaks thru the connector end it is faulty or is becoming faulty...
Isnt it like this? Anything after october is considered the next year?
I found another one offered on ebay that I went ahead and got/installed. The one I removed was bad, leaking oil of course. This one sounded a little better, and the price was great- ebay item 300864445889. Only time will tell, but for now it is running right again with no MIL.
