DELO 400LE ?

My usual oil is 15-40 Shell.... WM had none so I picked up some Delo 400LE.

Is this OK for one oil change interval? I have read the SJ is not as preferred as the SL for our trucks..

That oil will work just fine.

My truck has been ran on Delo 400 since it's second oil change, except for a couple changes which I used Valvoline. It has 242,000 original miles on stock injectors, HPOP, turbo, etc...

Your oil choice will be fine, as mentioned above.
But the service designation you should be looking for is CH4 or CG4. Not SJ/SL which is a spark engine designation, but some oils cover both.
Just a thought. Jim

I've been using Delo400LE since 2005 when I bought my truck an E99.
266,500 miles and great oil reports back from Blackstone. It's ok to use.
WM usually has the best price about $12.99 a gallon on sale.

Delo 15W-40 is a CJ-4/SJ rated motor oil. The "C" ratings (aka compression based ignition) are the ones you want to pay attention to.

Anyways Delo is a fine consumer grade motor oil and will handle anything rotella handled IMHO. I actually have that in my truck right now.

Good morning all. I do appreciate all the info and education... 400LE it is.... curious as to why they have two formulations? I understand the LE is for the DPF based vehicles and backward compatible... but why offer two? is the standard non LE based oil better for our engines?

Fuel standards are not the same over the world, US and the EU have ULSD for the most part (15ppm) but countries like Russia, India and China have diesel fuel with 500-5000 ppm of sulfur, which is not what CJ-4 oil was designed to handle. With ULSD, a CJ-4 oil will be fine. If you run LSD (500 ppm), which unless your fueling up in rural siberia you aren't going to find much of it, then a CI-4+ oil with its slightly higher TBN amounts would be a better fit. Other than that, IMHO, there is no benefit to running a CI over a CJ unless your planning on running 25k OCIs.

My first foray into synthetic engine oil will be Delo 400LE, picked up some today - Like F3504ME, WM was out of Rotella T6. Good to hear it is an option for our rigs. I imagine I'm competing with several other diesel truck owners in the Seattle area for the limited WM shelf space for this product. Sucked the old dino out of the HPOP as well and topped off with Delo. We'll see how she does. I had been running Motorcraft 15W-40 dino.

I haven't. I was looking for any 5W-40 or 0W-40 to compare, but only found the Delo 5W-40 that day.
