Yea...lol. I never can capture it on ae because it never happens when I have time to set it up. Always when I'm going to work or school or somewhere in a rush...

Josh , does the 03 have the IAT2 senser? why would maf burn ? more current or it got wet ,so if IAT2 was malfunc would one or the other take the default ( take the heat ,current)? results being surge.

Yes it does have an IAT2.

Not sure why the MAF connector would burn like that. Maybe moisture? Looks like a flash burn and not a charred condition.

The inferred EBP confuses things...

Miles after reading alittle ,I would go for the IAT1 that's in with the MAF, in the tech folders under Iat1 and Iat2, makes sence now that I see the connection burned, it also regulates timing and fuel.

I had to replace the MAF pigtail (MY 05), it idled horribly, especially when cold, and surged (maybe stumbled is a better word for it) when putting it into gear, or when taking off. Mine was not burned, so I'm not much help there, but I believe you are on the right track.

Looks like you found the Problem

That pigtail and or Harness

03 Uses that MAF for Turbo output

I would Unwrap that MAF from sensor to the PCM and Also check with a DVM

So i got plenty of great info here, but im not quite sure where to start... what do i want to check with my meter on the maf harness? make sure its not shorted? would that not throw some sort of code? I just find this weird since its only after the engine gets heat soaked apparantely
