Cargo light switch

How can I put the cargo light on an up-fitter switch so it comes on without any other lights? I have a 2012 F-350.

Intercept the wire coming from the light, cut it, and then extend it with a new wire to one of the upfitter switches.

Thanks, that won't set off any warning sensors saying I have a light out will it?

You can find out easy enough....pull the bulb and see if it sets a warning.

It's possible to do this without losing original function, ie, cargo light on with open door or whatever. By adding a diode, he can just "T" the upfitter switch and have the best of both.

upfitter switch ------------------------------|
factory line to cargo light -----------diode----|-------cargo light

Diodes that can handle a few amps are readily available at Radio Shack.

One caveat, however: Remember that the upfitter switches are hot only during run/accessory. If the key is off, the upfitters are off.

Thanks again. I wonder why I didn't think of this?! I'll try it out.

Thanks. Sounds like a good idea. I like it.
