I have seen many posts on how to disable the cargo light in various vehicles, and I was wondering where is the best location and method on the 08 F350 to tie in to put a in a switch?
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking of adding a seperate switch to turn off the cargo lights and dome lights when the doors are open. I do astronomy, and people get quite upset when a door opens and blinding light comes out of the cab. I was wondering where I could access the wires under the dash to splice in a switch.
Take the wiring for the driver side map light. Swap that with the wiring for the cargo light.
OK, when you flip the map light switch, now the cargo light comes on. When the dome light comes on, now the map light also comes on.
Shouldn't be real difficult, both lights are close to each other.
Thoughts?
Now thats something i would not have though of. I like it.
I"am going to try to find the wire and hook it to a upfitter.
I like to look in the bed without being blinded by the dome light.
That was one of 2 things i liked about my "06 Dodge the other of course was the 5.9
I found the wire for the cargo light. Its a solid purple wire under the door sill plate just behind the drivers door. I cut the wire and ran a wire from the cargo light end to an upfitter switch, and now I can turn it on and off when I want. I put in a seperate switch on the dash to turn off the dome light when I need to, but also maintain the original function as well.
