Just curious how many gallons of raw syrup do you need to get 1 to 2 gallons of grade A?
Last year I boiled down roughly 65+/- gallons of sap for 7+ Quarts of Grade "A" Syrup. (Generally 30-50 gallons of sap to make a gallon of syrup depending on the quality of the sap, and which kind of maple tree it came from, Silver/Red/Sugar.) Biggest issue is keeping it clean and cold. I generally pick my biggest snowbank, hollow it out just enough to fit a 5-gallon bucket, and store as much sap as I can before I start boiling it down. I usually boil it down over 2 days inside using propane. I really want to get set up with an outside wood burner, I could literally do GALLONS that way.
Good Evening! Weekend is almost here! We are going to have a busy one. Two kids birthday parties. Wife is going to a baby shower to, at least I get out of that one.
