Installed my vacuum pump.

Man I can stop now. LOL I bought the new pump and realized that I had to remove the pulley and re-install it on the new pump....oops. LOL How come you guys didn't tell me this? Short story long, Osmileys and Autodrone pulled out the same gear pullers and they obviously didn't work. Sent me to a machine shop, I go in they send me right out the door. 5 pm and I am frustrated. I google diesel shop for Irving. I found FSS Diesel performance. Manager told me to come on by, 7 minutes later I am there with both pumps meet one of the mechanics. This dude takes a snap on gear puller to a grinder and grinds a lip away so it will work. Swaps pulleys hands it to me and says....here you go, see ya. I look at the manager and he shakes my hand and says, "Come back, we'll catch up later, no charge." ....................then........

If ANYONE ever has an issues in the DFW area, look these guys up. They are diesel geeks and after watching them tear up an expensive snap on tool to HELP a guy out.....yeah they are going to see me again.

TRUCKS STOPPING NOW! Going to replace the brake booster and master cylinder this weekend.

It takes the same puller as a power steering pulley, any auto shop as well as autozone should have one. I'm guessing AZ had one and whoever you asked didn't know what he or she was looking for.

I've replaced those, I don't remember having to grind anything off. In fact, I'm pretty sure of it.

I am sure you didn't have to grind anything, but his tool needed the lip ground off to set inside the lip in the center of the pulley. I tell you what I just appreciate it. It is hard being in Irving when everything I own is in Tulsa. These guys are just awesome.

at my local auto parts store, they had a few modified pullers in the back, one of which we modified further until it worked. then we just used that one every other time i've needed it.

aparently theres one common brand of puller that fits, but most don't.
