The 90 pulls off the socket, and the straight socket slides in it's place. I really can't explain how. I stuck a small flat head driver in one side and pushed and pulled and the 90 came off. Don't be forceful and break it! It is designed to come apart.

My 05 lights came with their own sockets that were different, but all I had to do is unplug th pigtail from the old light socket, and plug to the new...
Did your lights come with their own?

The more I think of it, I believe that is what I had to do and just didn't think much of it. My 05's came with everything in them even headlights.

I had to use the old socket in my new headlight..I just put the new bulb in the old socket, the other side the old plug went right into the new socket
But the other side worked with the new socket that came with the new headlights

I wonder if it has to do with if you cut out your 99-03 panel to fit the headlights or if you get the 05+ header panel to fit the lights.

If it is all cut out to fit the lights I bet the original strait sockets would probably still work. With the 05 header panel it may not clear the strait sockets.

I have the 05+ panel, but the problem is with the light housing, that's what's keeping the socket from going in.
