there a diffrent trany fluids out there and i am sure will need Mercon V but just in case want to make sure. Have 1980 F100 C6 as far as i know never been rebuilt Haynes Manual says Mercon V Is that what i should use or is there another that i should use. Thanks all for the info
Ford no longer licenses plain Mercon for older vehicles, so a "universal" fluid is what you want. Chevron MD-3 and Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC conform to the old spec. Mercon V is supposed to work, but shift quality may be slightly different. Type F ended in 1977.
