As things in the IDI world go in the direction of more fuel and more air into the combustion chamber, the prechamber is staying the same. I was thinking about this looking at my heads and wondered if the prechamber could be opened up some, I know that the prechamber is carefully designed to mix the fuel and air but the stock pump is running 65cc's and some of the new DB4 pumps are running upwards of 200cc's. The prechamber could be a considerable bottle neck for this ammount of fuel. On the IDIT heads, I have found cracks on every lip of the prechamber. The edge of the prechamber has a knife edge and that is probably the most stressed part of the combustion chamber which caused the cracks. What are your thoughts on changing the or not changing the prechamber to reduce stress and allow more atomized air into the combustion chamber?
Did you see cracks there when you had your heads off? I know your engine has seen some real power so im interested to see what your experence is with this cracking.
They were cracked, but when he had the heads decked you either couldnt tell, or it got rid of the crack. Consensus is the PC's are not to their limit as of yet. They are pre-chambers, no swirl.
That being said, Im with you and think that they could probably be improved, but to what extent... Sadly i dont have an engineering degree, so ill stick to if its not broke dont fix it.
The pre combustion chamber is 20cc with a injector and glow plug installed. The chamber is for starting the cumbustion from exposure to the hot glow plug tip and then it burns on top of the piston in the .085 deep flame edge/swirl depression with a fancy name I can't recall at this time. Verry little can be done with the precup other than maby opening the port some but then it might not start and run well at low RPM cold. Just leave it alone. OH all my precups are cracked to
I'm no expert on the pre cups but do know diesels quite well and have often wondered if you could do away with the pre cups and use powerstroke pistons. Before I get a hundred reason why not just remember its just a thought.

Well you could you would just have to get a PSD block, a set of PSD heads and PSD fuel system then it should work prety good
