washing a carb engine ?

Lay a clean rag over the top of the carb, then duct tape a bag over it, do the same for the distributor, foam it with engine cleaner then pressure wash! If you have acorns and stuff on top of the intake, you might want to vacume them up 1st or clean them out by hand!
