Yea and i know it bugs you for some reason. I ask cuz A) I can, B) thats why forums are created partialy, and C) cuz i dont wana do something thats gunna end up bad and cost me another 15k like i already have thanks to the PO who has head up A** syndrome..... And yea id love electric but i dont have that kinda money. And the amount id use them wouldnt make it really worth it.
I have them on my '48 and I really like them but I cant recommend the ones you posted. those will never seal or hold your exhaust firmly in place, most likely will allow it to roll and hang. get on jeggs or summit and look at their brand of electric cut outs. they aren't that much compared to the others like the magna flo. personally when I was debating on cut out or not, electric or not, I decided it was electric or nothing. to me its pointless to have anything other than electric because of the convenience. push a button= open, push a button= closed V/S park, shut off truck, wait for wing nuts to cool, hope you used never seize and they will come off. you get the idea. your truck, your money, your decision, my .02 cents worth of experience.

Hmm have a good point there. Might have to wait and go with you and HIO on electric ones in the future.
You mean that in a state with a law against practically everything, cut-outs are allowed? They're illegal in Texas.
Even at car shows?
The op was asking about for at shows. I'll have to agree with the others, electric or none at all. With the electric you can go from open to close lickety split, instead of waiting for stuff to cool down. Besides, unless there's a gasket in the cut out portion of the flange, you'll have a leak there.
A long long long time ago,1960s we did that a lot on our cars. Only they were chrome side pipes below the rocker panels. We would uncap them for the saturday night cruise though small towns. Yes it was illegal to do it but fun. I never did get a citation ,just a scolding from the local law. Ha ha, now days i probably would be the first one to get their number and call the law.__

Weren't those "lake pipes"? I remember the burned fingers and burned shins (they exited at just the wrong location!).
I must be getting old! I like quiet exhaust .

Yes " lake pipes " or as some called "lakers" . I like them a lot quieter too . The ones i had were 3 feet with the burning caps. Mine only lasted about one year as the car was lowered down and i hit something and ripped one off . Being 19 years old i thought i really had something making all that racket. They were on a 56 ford fairlane with the 292 Y-block.

Yep. In the state of Texas you are required to get a vehicle safety inspection every year and have a current sticker displayed in the lower left corner of the windshield. Exhaust cut-outs are expressly prohibited. If the person inspecting the vehicle finds a cut-out in the exhaust system you don't get a sticker. Straight pipes aren't legal either. You must have some sort of muffler in the system, even it it's only a glass packed.
