over revving issue

I have been trying to figure this out and really getting tired of the problem. So if I rev my truck to 3k rpm it will have a slight surge and rev to like 3600 rpm then when I let off it will come down a few hundred rpms then rev itself again up slightly for a split second then finally come down. If I rev it up to then same 3k rpm let off then hit the pedal again to stumbles then revs up fine. This issue only happens around 3-3200 rpm, before or after the truck runs normal. It doesn't matter if I'm on stock or extreme tune. There is no response from the throttle pedal for the first inch of pushing it down but people say when it goes bad it won't work at all. And since I put on my s&b cold air intake if I get into a hill and throttle it at a lower rpm lets say 12-1400 rpm it will start to turbo fart after about 15seconds of pulling. The rev thing has always done this even when I bought the truck used and bone stock, the turbo fart has only been since the cold air intake.truck builds plenty of boost with little turbo lag. Near I can guess maybe two issues... sticky vanes and some other sensor iguess. This is on a 07 6.0. I have an egr delete, arp studs, ccv reroute, airdog2 with sump, cfm large mouth intake, s&b cold air intake, edge cs juice with attitude with 140 horse tune and running the atlas 80 ficm tune. The revving issue has been going on from before all these mods.

A plugged IPR Screen is one of the more common causes of this

Might be worth pullen and checking the IPR Screen

And also what are you running for Oil Filter and Oil Filter Cap are they Both OEM?????? Must be 110% Shure on this TOO^^

BOTH STYLE OIL FILTER CAPS YOU WANT THE ONE ON THE LEFT SIDE ITS OEM

Can you Monitor ICP--ICPV--IPR%

I use stock filters and oil cap... could be irp screen but they were supposed to change it when they did my heads so I'm not sure if it was done or not. But why would this only happen at the 3-3200 rpm range

get the codes read, but I would agree with a sticking turbo and probably an IPR issue.

oh so it had majoir work

that makes it even more possible the ipr screen clogged

I have seen a few folks here that Put a New IPR during majoir work only to trash it Upon First Startup because the job was done dirty not kept clean

If there is any dirt or junk in there it will not collect on the screen untill the truck is put back together and Started up and running Once everything is Flowing at thius time is when the junk will get on the screen

Im not saying thats the problem but DO NOT rule it out either Just cause its New

Mark has some good Ideas here as well

A gauge is a Must to Have a Snowball Chance in you know what to Fix your truck

You could just start Cleaning Sensors
MAP
EBP
EGR
MAF use special cleaner

A Gauge will eventualy pay for itself Sometimes in 1 Fix

I cleaned my map it reads 14psi koeo and 16 at idle ebp is 0 koeo and 2 at idle not cleaned. My egr cooler is deleted and the valve welded shut. All temps egt eot and ect are normal. Mass air flow cleaned awhile back and didn't change. Icp is 570 at idle. Ficm never dips below 47.5v. I pick up no codes from my edge or buddy at the ford dealer.nothing to me seams outa ordinary visually... i plan on getting an icp vgt and irp but wish I could just narrow it down. I may even get a power max turbo just I want one and don't feel like cleaning the stock turbo lol

Oh Great you do have a Gauge

Lets get some Values Going then to check all this stuff these guys are talking about

The EBP in Red could be your problem IDK if it the Gauge your using or the Actual problem

The EBP Value is OFF though

You need to compare these sensors below at KOEO (Key On Engine Off)
BARO
MAP
EBP

These^^^^should be within 1 or 2 psi of each other at KOEO for starters the Way I see it Now they Are Not with EBP being OFF

Did they have similar issues like mine? Ill get some values tomorrow. I noticed my baro stays around 14.5 while my map is arpund 24psi driving... the ebp is only ever as high as 6 driving normal... but post actual values at different rpms tomorrow. I'm just using my edge cs as my live data.

If I had to guess at this Point Being you have a 2007 and EBP reading is OFF ALOT Id say EBP is your problem

6PSI EBP is way to Low Regaurdless How/When the reading was taken

Baro sets the Baseline so EBP and Map for that matter should always be the Same or Higher PSI than BARO

so thats 14.5psi or higher for MAP or EBP sensor readings at any given time

First thing I would try is to scan for codes
Then check BARO--MAP--EBP at KOEO,Low Idel,High Idel
then Clean EBP sensor and the Metal Tube that goes to the sensor from the driverside Exhaust manafold if values are still out

then when you take sensor readings do it like this below

OPERATING VALUES
Just make shure the numbers are taken exactly like this
Truck in PARK OR NEUTRAL all times during test
ECT at 190* or close to And EOT at 185* or higher
A/C OFF
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1-------KOEO=Key On Engine Off =record EACH sensor value and POST IT!!
#2-------Low Idel (truck idel on its own)=record EACH sensor value and POST IT!!
#3-------High Idel (2500RPM)=record EACH sensor value and POST IT!!
ALL^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Taken in Park or Nuetral
