Hey Everyone, I know we have been over this but as usual i am still in a state of confusion. 2007 F250 Lariat Crew Short box and 6.8 3 valve. I have discussed in previous threads about a "flat spot" in mid throttle acceleration. Took all advice given and there has been an imporvement but i still feel that there is some concern. The PO of this truck "installed" a 40 series flow master (i will say installed, but it is more like morphed in...). I have heard that there is the need for some back pressure in these engines. Fine no problem i get it, but why is it when i am WOT this exhaust sounds like i am running 2in exhaust???????? The SSSSHHHHHHHHHHH out the pipe sounds so restricted. I really beleive that this is at least contributing to my poor mileage and mid throttle power concerns. Who has experience with what mufflers, and what are your thoughts on the best muffler for the 3V??
The muffler shop and exhaut specialist I used in Ogden, Utah told me that the Magnaflow would be my best choice for the 3 V V-10 and so far, he has been right. I also installed the Airaid intake system and between the 2, the HISSSS is gone. I have a little "drone" around 60-65, but I am hardly ever at that speed, usually above or below. I did a single exhaust with a 3" pipe. You can kinda see it in this picture.
Pulled the trigger yesterday, 18" magnaflow cat back in 3" pipe. So far love it. Relatively no drone, slight improvement in mid throttle power. will watch MPG, but dont expect much of a change. SHHHHHHHHHH out tailpipt at WOT is greatly reduced. This is overall a major improvement over the 50 series that was on the truck. And it definately lost that 6cyl sound!!!!!!!!
