if you go past 1500° on the pyro, you will have already melted your pistons... So I'd return your 2400° gauge for a 1500° one
Unless you go with ceramic coated pistons. NMB used them and IIRC he said he was safe up to 2200* but like I said before, if you go that intense on your build, I would upgrade your gauges anyway.
I realize that I overdone it on my gauges. That was my intention, so when I did get to do my build, no matter what I decided, my gauges would be sufficient. What I didn't realize is the rep of the glowshift gauges. The people I talked to were satisfied with what they had. Guess I was talking to the wrong guys. I'm gonna use them then take the advice given and get better gauges when I do my build, which may be awhile. Thanks for the advice guys.
Nah dude, use youre gauges until they give you reason no to trust em. Made in USA is nothing worth holding out on anymore usually anyway. If they work use em.
Thanks Hairy, plan on using them. Everyone has always give me sound advice here is all and I appreciate it, even if its not what I want to hear sometimes.
I'd like to do that someday, but I'll have to hook them up to someone else's engine so the gauges would move!
Thanks Chevy Eater. The gauges look good in there, better than I thought they would. Thought the quad would be too much, but I didn't want them anywhere else. The top one is high and a little hard to read on the lower numbers. Akamacgyver advised me about this, so I took his advice and put my oil pressure gauge up top. If she's running that low on oil pressure, the least of my worries will be looking at the gauge! lol
Others here have said you can use the hole towards the back of the d/s head for an add on gauge so you can keep your existing sensors and lights/gauges. I took a look at mine and I see the plug they're talking about, seems like a good idea to me.
Cold advance and dummy light don't have anything to do with each other. The sensor, technically a switch, is on the other head in a similar location as the dash temp gauge sensor. Check the wires on it. My aftermarket coolant temp sensor is in the same port as yours, and my cold advance still works.
Yeah 94, seen that setup before.lol I tried to get the plug out of the ds head, but had no luck. My cold advance was working fine. I checked my wires, but I will look it over good tonight. Thanks guys.
if you are still running the factory airbox, then make sure the factory oil pressure sensor wire doesn't get pinch between the air box and the intake snail. it can cut the wire and make the gauge do funny things. i need to put in a new piece of wire on mine for that reason.
Once you've got some miles on her with the gauges installed, I'd be curious to see what kind of coolant temps you're seeing. My Autometer says I sit right at 205ish at idle/cruising and can see as high as 220s loaded on a hill before the fan clutch kicks in. I know akamacgyver has his temp sensor in the same location and doesn't hit 200s at all.

I'll keep you posted. Haven't driven it far, but unloaded wot, up hills and cruising, I'm sitting 195-210.
