I got my truck back from the shop after 3 weeks. When I first got it back the mileage was really good. 17.5 - 18mpg. Interstate driving around 20.5.
I have put 1000 miles on since then and the best I can get on the interstate is 16mpg and all around driving is about 14.5mpg.
I called the dealer they said to wait until it gets about 1500 miles on it and see where it is. There needs to be a re-learn.
I wonder if it is the MAF sensor is bad or if it even has one. Some say no others say yes. I do have what I thought is MAF sensor on my intake tube, but I don't know.
Huh? A mass air flow sensor is used to determine the mass flowrate of air.
I agree that is what a MAF sensor does, but a 2012 Ecoboost F150 doesn't have one.
Below is a list of sensors that all 2012 F150s have. See what it lists under MAF sensors. The Ecoboost has a wide band that adjusts for rich or lean conditions.
Okay, I'm glad this topic came up again because I got all confused last summer and never came to a conclusion so let's try again. When I searched for Ecoboost MAF sensor...
I've got people showing me a MAF part number from Ford service parts catalog. Entirely legit part numbers.
I've got people showing me screen shots from the PTS Ford technical website and it doesn't list a MAF. Another legit source.
I've got people saying what Ford calls a MAF is actually an air temperature sensor, citing examples that proves Ford has a long standing tradition to identify a temp sensor with poorly chosen acronyms.... like MAF.
I've looked under the hood of my own 2012 and the sensor doesn't look like a MAF sensor to me
I've got a co-worker that looked under the hood of my same truck and says it is a 4-wire MAF (so we disagree about that LOL!)
I've got a photo of a 2011 with what looks like a MAF housing near the air filter. This is absent in my 2012.
I've got aftermarket cold air intake manufactures saying they have intakes for both MAF and MAP style trucks
Why is there so much conflicting information? .
Is that really a 4 wire temp sensor? If so, then the engine controller must require some very accurate temp readings!
New on the board, first post. Found this thread doing a google search. While replacing the air filter on my 2014 EB F150 I broke the lock on the harness side of the connector on the very sensor you're trying to identify. I looked up all the numbers on the sensor and didn't find an exact match for any one. There is a commonality of a part of the last number series, 9F479. When googling this I ended up at RockAuto (good parts prices, IMO), which returned part of this number with a part nomenclature 'Manifold Pressure (MAP) Sensor. I looked on Fordparts.com using my VIN (it's a 2014 F150 EB) and the numbers 9F479 and it returned the part, calling it 'Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor'. So if you go with Fordparts.com, it's a MAP sensor. What I need is the connector on the harness side, that I've still yet to find. It's not the end of the world, it's currently held together with a zip tie. Anyway, for what it's worth, there you go.
edited: Found a Motorcraft repair catalog (MC-PIGTAIL2015A MA20148 Motorcraft® Wiring Sets for Ford and Lincoln Vehicles | The Official Ford Parts Site | FordParts.com ) that lists what looks like every connector and a neat part number index. The one I'm looking for is WPT1231; BU2Z-14S411-ATA. When looking on Fordparts.com it turns up a page of 14S411 but with a page of 14S411's you have to determine the correct suffix. It appears the one I need is 14S411W. Anyway, could well be that this info is already here somewhere and I didn't see it, if so, sorry.
