Thanks JKidd 39. I think when I hit 5k I will get the oil check and go from there..It looks like making the change saves $ in the long run with the fewer changes needed.
Off topic, but changing the hpop oil doesnt sound like a bad idea anymore. Reason i say this, is, me and buddy did an oil change on his truck last week...we decided to pull from the reservoir. Mind you, the truck was run'n for ATLEAST 10min, b4 checking oil level. The oil that came from there was PURE BLACK, where on the dipstick, was golden brown, again, 10min of run'n.
I'm not say'n it doesnt "circulate" into the pan, but i think it does it at a VERY SLOW PACE...
You certainly are not hurting anything by doing so, and a lot of people on here are adamant that there is no need whatsoever, and they may be 100% right. Certainly they are 10x more knowledgeable than I am about these trucks. However, Jody at DP Tuner believes you should drain it, and I have also experienced similar results as you have.
I do have one question though...you said you ran the truck for 10 minutes. Was it simply idling in Park in the driveway, or did you actually drive it and build up higher oil pressures? If you simply idled it, I can see where it wouldn't cycle the oil through very quickly. But at 1500-2200 psi, I'm pretty sure it would have cycled out a lot of it.
Well the verdict is in.....after several hours, and 5 stores later I had finally accumulated enough T6 to change it on Sunday. I didn't drain the reservoir, but after about 60 seconds idling we heard a SUBSTANTIAL difference in the engine, it quieted down and smoothed out ALOT. I didn't get to start it cold this morning, however when I started it this afternoon going to estimate about 35-40* it fired up easy, and idled much smoother than it had been on the 15-40 dino. So far all-in-all im impressed and happy I made the swap.
Sunday I also slapped in my new ICP sensor (the one I had in it was off the old motor and had oil coming through), and discovered both the metal piece that holds the IPR solenoid on and tin nut were laying in my valley. (This is most likely from the swapping 5-6 different IPR's when diagnosing my no ICP issue, and a goof on myself from being tired). Gonna be in Nevada training the next 2 weeks, soon as I get back gonna start collecting some live data on AE and see how everything is holding together.
