Same reason I do my own as well... There was a lube place in town that put the wrong oil filter on a truck belonging to a guy I work with. He drove off, the filter leaked all the oil out, and he fried a motor. The lube place initially got froggy with him until Navy legal stepped in, then they magically agreed to replace the motor with a new one. I'm guessing their corporate handbooks say that they should try to discourage the consumer from further action to try and lower their expenses. That's a bunch of BS. Anybody who gets it from one of these places and has to make more than 2 phone calls to get it fixed needs to contact a lawyer immediately.

Synthetics really shine on cold winter startups. If you are not going to extend drain intervals or live in a warm climate then synthetics aren't worth the extra money.

One of the nearby Jiffy Lube Centers has had a problem with its neon sign at night. For some reason, the "J" occasionally doesn't work. Which means it reads "iffy lube" every now and then.

Nothing like honesty in advertising!

no problem, lol but about those "iffy lube" places, i NEVER trust them and one time when i was down in texas before i started using syntehtic, i was driving a car with more than 85k on it and it had about 4k on the oil and even thuogh it needed it, i just waited til i got back home and took it to the dealer since it needed a bunch of other crap done to it

I've told my wife if she ever takes her CRV to Jiffy Lube. I'd divorce her....

I worked at Jiffy lube, If we couldnt get a filter off we would just leave it on and just change the oil. Very common practice.

At least you cleaned off the filter so it looked new, right?

My Grandfather had a new 88 Thunderbird with 7800 mi. on it, brought it to Jippy Lube.
Drove away and after about a mile he realized something was wrong, they forgot the drain plug and never changed the filter.
I'll bet the boy's that work there don't go there!

Of course they go there. They just do the work right. What takes you an hour on your buddies truck..takes you 3 hours with yours. Cause yours is more 'important' you know?
