Oil Special Decisions

So I got a 1990 F150 with a inline six engine. If what the title says and the few years my father had it we figure it has 181,000 miles. It had 70 some thousand before and my father had it for around 8 years maybe. But besides that. I have been looking at Advanced Auto's oil change specials. Got Castrol GTX, Quaker State, and Havoline for conventional. I'm trying to figure out which do I even get. Does anyone have any advice on any of these brands? I haven't found any leaks either. I put so far 2500 miles since I got it and the oil on the dipstick is still in the full area. But I can say it isn't where it originally was when I changed the oil when I got the truck. After changing the oil I'm planning to keep a eye on it to see how much goes in how many miles.

I run Rotella 15w40 in my 5.0. But, that's me. In reality any old dinosause 10w30 will be fine just use a good filter.

I'm switching to T6 for the winter. (it can get cold in VT)

I lost my last engine to lack of oil on a bitter cold startup.

These motors are built to run on oils in the 5w30-10w40 range with the lighter weight stuff for cold weather use.. below about 5deg C. I tried 0w30 once and it just made the motor noisy so that got swapped out pretty quickly.

I'm using the 5W-40 flavor Rotella T6 Synthetic.

TripleT 15-40 conventional in the summer.

I just buy it wherever it's on sale & I can get a Motorcraft filter

10w-30 conventional oil year-round in both trucks. We get temps as low as -10 in the winter and 90+ in the summer.

And we just get whatever color bottle we like that day.
