Does anyone know exactly what the differences are from the 150 to 250 and 350 frames? Is it possible to install 250 or 350 suspension components to a 150?
Frame thickness wasnt really any different until you get into supercabs and crew cabs. When you get into towing and load capacity there isnt much difference in spring rates. Both had dana 44 fronts. The difference was that 5 lug stuff was coil spring front and 8 lug stuff was leaf sprung. Except in subercabs where all 4wd stuff is leaf spring.
The other things that are different is the front 8 lug has dual piston calipers. the dana 60 rears that came in the f250s were full float and had bigger brakes.
If it were me heres what id do if i had a nice f 150. Find an f 250 donor truck or axles. Swap the outers off the 8 lug front to the 5 luf front. That consists of caliper bracket/spindle/hub/rotor/caliper. The rearends will be a bolt in swap with the only difference you may run into is ujoint size. Goto the local spring shop and have them order you a new spring pack for a 78/9 f250. The spring dimension are the same betweent eh two trucks.
