2wd to 4wd swap. what dana 44 axle to use

hey guys. First off, i am gonna say this. i aint gonna put my trucks body onto a newer frame. with that said, i need some help. I have a 1964 ford f100 that i want to convert to 4wd. It has leaf spring front suspension. My question is, wat yrs did ford use a leaf sprung front diff with the ford 5x5.5 bolt pattern with disc brakes. dont care to much about leaf spring pad placement cause i already know i'm gonna have to move them.

73-79 Ford 4wds with the 1/2 ton suspension, 5 X 5.5 lugs were all coil spring up front.

Not all of them. If you can find a F-150 supercab 4wd they were 5 lug leaf spring. Also you can take an 8 lug 44 and swap the outers to 5 lug.

or maybe you should just convert it to 3/4 to front and rear. but you could also find a 3/4 ton dana44 and swap from the spindles out to get your 5 lug like crazy said. If i were you i would think about doing the coils up front from everything off of a late 70s f150. i have seen it done and seems to be fairly easy and rides awesome.

8 lug would be a dana 60, 61 or 70. d60's are the most common and what you'd want most likely.
