Exclamation dana 44

so i found a 77 1 ton dually frame but its not 4 wheel drive i have a 1978 front leaf spring dana 44 setup i am wanting to convert my 44 to 8 lug dually front setup. Need help guys i still have the front half of the frame too so i could transfer parts

The 1978 front leaf spring dana 44 setup is not 8 lug ?

You could have just clarified .. You could be talking about the spacer needed to convert an F250 8 lug leaf spring front axle to a dually set up .. A leaf spring 5 lug front 4wd axle is a rare bird ..

But at the end of the day I really don't have time for your shxt .. Key word shxt

Here is my rare bird but really need to know if i can convert it to 8lug it needs rebuilt anyways so is it possible to do and put under the 1 ton frame

^^^too funny!

2wd parts will not "convert" with 4wd ...you need 8 lug d44 parts or find a 1ton 4x4.

im building off a 2wd frame but have my 4wd frame to fabricate the 2wd into a 4wd im trying to figure out if my front suspension currently on my 78 will bolt up to the 77 and can i convert it from 5 lug to 8 lug time is not of the essence so if it takes time i dont mind the cab is being sent to my body guy for a house of kolors paint job

will there be weakness in the d44 im not trailing or mudding this truck it is just going to be a beefed up tow and show truck

The 5 lug leaf spring axles are on 1/2 ton supercabs.

Your best bet is to sell the axle to a jeep guy and buy a 3/4 ton axle. Jeep guys love them because it's an upgrade for them, spring mounts are correct and they can still use whatever wheels they already have because the pattern is the same on each.

what will i need for the 3/4 ton axle for dually front wheels just a spacer i know where i can get a 3/4 ton front axle

To take a 5 lug half ton D44 axle and make it an 8 lug, you need these parts from a D44 8 lug axle.

If you leave it a 5 lug and do not get "big tire ites" that front axle and rear 9" will be just fine for a tow and show rig.

redroad his truck is a 5 lug D44 and has leaf spring front suspension cause its a SC. Only the SC came like that.

a 3/4 ton axle is a direct replacement with the 1/2 ton Supercab axle. I took my 5 lugs out and swapped in d60's,, nothing to it

Here is some motivation pics. 1st pic is rear adapter, and it looks like all the front adapters are on a D60 axles, not D44's (see the kingpin)?
