Steve, that is a good measurement for the 78/9 high pinion axle with 8 lug spindles and hubs. The OP was asking for the 1/2 ton stuff, which happens to have a different dimension, and will not have leaf springs, so the question about the spring centers will not be based upon the spring perch since the 1/2 tons have no such spring perch.
I am looking through some of my old stuff to find the data to support this, but the D44 has several spindles that require very different outer stubs and have several diferent widths. Not all full size axles are the same width.

I actually want to run the coil spring suspension from the F150/Bronco and use the 8-lug hubs...
If that's the case would the Wheel Mount surface measurment still be 68"?
If so I just need a measurment from spring center to spring center on a coil sprung axle.
