abnormal tire wear

Hay guys, I know its been a while. Since school got started things are busy.

I have abnormal tire wear on my driver rear tire. It is wearing more on the inside and even more on some parts of the inside. I am looking to sell me car and turn this into my daily driver since I dont have a long commute any more. Im sure she would love to be driven more ofter, but I want to get this fixed before im driving and it blows. I have one person telling me its my wheel hubs, another telling me alignment, another telling me balance. So here I am, looking to the people that have not failed me so far.

so is the tire "feathering"? kinda like every other tread block is worn more than the other one? That would be a bad shock.

the shocks may not feel all that bad when driving but you take them out and you might be able to compress them by hand. that is what mine were like.

When is the last time they were rotated? Usually eneven wear like youre describing is caused from being out of alignment. However if that tire has been on the back, and is wearing to the inside i would check your bearings. Being out of balance can cause it to wear unevenly across the tire, but not on one side. Jack that tire up and see if you have any play.

X2 on wheel bearing, and possibly that shock to. Combo of the 2.

I had two back tires like you described. Turns out they were just crap tires. If you get the cheap ones it will happen once in a while

Since i hate runnign into unfinished threads i figured id put something out. I have reciently rotated the tires and i can def tell that they are out of balance. I have plans to sell my car this weekend so this will open up some money and i will be taking her to get them balanced. I am hoping this will help but i will start looking for another set if tires anyhow.

can anybody point me to a thread or somthing showing me how to check the oil level in the axles?

My rule of thumb on oil in axles is simply loosen the filler bolt and fill till it starts to pour out, wipe up the excess and close it. And I use the good stuff, I don't cheap out on them, I spent more time offroad than most of the guys here with my IDI and when your going 70km/h down a logging trail or dune especially if you have a locker you want to limit what can go wrong, and cheap oil is just to simple a fix to avoid. Also get real gaskets, they last longer and overall are worth the extra $5-20 over the goop.

To check the level in the rear axle, the fill plug faces the front of the truck on the differential, and is on the passengers side if I remember correctly.

If the front is a D60, fill plug should be right in the cover.
