HFCM disconnected, truck still runs?

My fuse #8 was blowing apparently as a result of some kind of short in HFCM (horizontal fuel conditioning module). This is the module where fuel filter is, along with fuel heater, inline pump, and water in fuel sensor. I've disconnected all three plugs from it, and now the fuse doesn't blow and the truck still runs, but it runs very rough, its down on power and there are clouds of smoke when I give it some gas. Is this normal? How is is able to run with the fuel pump disconnected?

Not sure but if it is a pump you are probally running low fuel pressure through the injectors

The injectors use high pressure oil to plung the plungers, this creates a siphon effect. The injectors are siphoning the fuel from your tank.

Don't run it like this, you will cause injector damage.

Is it safe to drive it for like 5 minutes to get to the mechanics shop like this, or should I tow it?

Push, pull or drag... Do not not start and drive.

I've already drove it for like 10 minutes after it happened. Hope I didn't damage injectors.

Me too. At 220 bucks a piece that would add up fast.

Haha, it was not an easy task to tow this with my little SUV this morning. Snapped a couple ropes and went and got a chain... Then got it towed without much drama.

does fuse 8 run the pump or is it just dedicated to the fuel heater. The fuel heater is not essential and was I believe discontinued in the later models.
