A few times over the last few months. My truck has had a hard time starting.
yesterday my girlfriend tried to start it for work. it took 4 times tiring then it started and smoked bad.
Today i tried to start it. after 4 attempts, i got out and jumped the GPR and it started right up.
I have read good and bad on aftermarket relays. Is OEM The best to use ?
what are you guys running who have replaced them..
I used the stancor unit. It was easy and well worth the modification for the amperage and hopefully the long life. Time will tell. Guzzle's page is very helpful.
The inexpensive fix is the GPR 109 from Napa. They usually don't last as long as the Stancor, but are as good or better than OEM. That's what I use. Actually I don't know if anyone has had a stancor fail. Guzzle (linked right in my sig) I think had a stancor install.
Rich, I will swap them out today and see if that works. It should.
I tried to start it this morning. one long crank and nothing..
I jumped it across for about 10 seconds and it started right up..
So i am positive its gone now..
I've put stancor's in three trucks so far, the most recent was four years ago. One truck was sold, but the other two are still working great. It's stancor 586-902. Wiring is the same as your current gpr, just horizontal posts.

My GPR died this fall and was replaced with this one. It was an easy install and was definitely heavier than the original. Easy fix. Guzzle's write-up helped.
Well, I could not wait for one to come UPS, I had to use the truck so i ran to pep-boys and picked one up for now. Borg Warner for $49.
It started right up this morning. so i now know that was the problem.
I will get a Stancor ordered this week and use the BW for a back up in the parts box behind the seat.
I just ordered a unit from MCMaster Carr without an account; ordered at 5am delivered by 3pm next day. Installed it tonight its an impressive unit compared to the OEM
