Because of a "looped" system? Since mines' "deadheaded", you think that could be it or you think the split shots are the cause?
It is split-shots that cause it. 'My' design (FN74 invented it) is still deadheaded, the FPR is before the heads - but loops the return thru heated fuel line back to the pump. There are pressure spikes, since there are real CV's on either side of the heads (giving pressure returned to the rails during the 'pause' in split-shot nowhere to go) - but the spikes don't hurt anything. Except my fuel pressure sender - I did go thru (2) of those in 100k miles on splits...
There is no doubt this pump is some kind of knock-off. Unlike the rip-off claim, it is not advertised as something it's not... Do I trust this company? Not anymore than the current White House administration - but if this pump works 1/2 as long as the locally-available Airtex that costs 4x more, I'll run it. If they stand behind their 'lifetime warranty' - BONUS!! If it poops the bed in 50k, I will be annoyed - in 20k I'd be aggravated - in 10k, I'll be pissed.
"Caution! Counterfeit & Dangerous Carter Federal Mogul fuel pumps sold as Original OEM parts on ebay. The counterfeit pumps are falsely advertised as "BRAND NEW CARTER OEM Fuel Pump CHRYSLER PART # 4874172 / 5012961AB / 5012961AC, CARTER / FEDERAL MOGUL PART # P75043M and BOSCH PART # 67649.
CARTER FEDERAL MOGUL 1-877-489-6659 HAS CONFIRMED THAT THESE FUEL PUMPS ARE NOT THEIR MANUFACTURE or OEM.
These counterfeit fuel pumps can be recognized from the actual Carter Federal Mogul OEM product as they have no Manufacturer's name, model or type number on the unit. The counterfeit fuel pumps are made of inferior materials and contain a defective plastic fuel line housing that can separate, allow fuel to leak and result in a fire in the presence of an ignition source caused by the fuel pump's substandard wiring. The counterfeit fuel pumps have been sold on ebay by Global Automotive and several other Miami FL based vendors under several names, despite ebay's efforts to prevent the sale of counterfeit items.
Included in this posting are photos of the counterfeit Jeep fuel pump module sold by Global Automotive, ebay item number 160064372124 "NEW CARTER OEM FUEL PUMP 1997-1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE" and states: " CARTER / FEDERAL MOGUL IS THE OEM MANUFACTURER OF THESE FUEL PUMPS" Although the listing has been removed by ebay, it is available for viewing at the time of this bulletin.
Buyers of these or other type or brand/type fuel pumps from Global Automotive or other ebay vendors are advised to immediately remove any counterfeit fuel pumps from vehicles and to contact Carter Federal Mogul at 1-877-489-665 ( stlouis.orders@federalmogul.com ), The US Dept of Transportation, (DOT), U.S. Customs and ebay."
When confronted with dubious or suspicious claims... you just gotta do some more digging!! You and I are on the same page, and I LIKE the way you think (and research)!!
Well my Factory fuel pump that was taken out of Swagger pump it's last bit of vegi the other day. I ordered one of these $38 pumps last Saturday and installed it today. No leaks, nice and quiet. When I set the FPR with the pump from swagger I had it set for 75 PSI. After install this pump the Fuel Pressure was at 85 to 90 PSI. I adjusted the FPR back to 75 warmed the truck up and gave her a 20 mile road test on the veg. From a dead stop and and putting the go pedal to the floor the pump never went below 68 PSI. I'll keep everyone posted as how it performs as its gets more mileage under it. So far so good.
Awesome Mike Is your wvo system ,a 2-tank, or does this pump share both fuels?
I figure, 38 buks, is its weight in gold, if by chance i'm stuck in middle of nowhere..(especially now with mx racing season), to get me out of a jam and home. I got it plumbed up for wvo use, since thats mostly what i'll be bang'n on. Hell, i bring enough fuel line to plumb a house, but either way, whatever pump with the unfortunate of its dismay, can be changed up fairly quickly, and back on road.
The only thing my WVO system shares with the diesel system is the engine. Lol two tank system, using an excursion tank under the bed where the spare tire used to be.
Ya, mine too. My $500.00 wvo pump, since it has a 5yr warranty, WAS gonna get the d2 tapped into it..(3way valve). Since i paid that much for it, figure i'd use the chit outta it, but decided against it, since "flushing/purging" would still be contaminated with wvo...via the wvo filter. Didnt want to bring d2 to pump, then back to d2 side either, just to utilize the expensive pump...
I shot them an email thru ebay, in regards to their reputation on one of those "links" you posted. They have yet to respond...
Their response...
