I'm swapping a 90 E4OD into my 86 6.9 F350 and find my injector pump won't take the usual throttle sensor. I'm wondering whether the controller (from a 90 E350) cares about intermediate throttle settings or is it only worried about coast vs wide open.
My options appear to be rigging some sort of linear travel pot, or would limit switches with something cobbled together to give two resistances be enough?
At this point I'd be happy if I could just lock into OD by pulling three levers and tugging a chain - a c6 with a 4.10 gear is just not the thing for a diesel on the highway LOL.
Thanks Mark, I really appreciate your insight. Guess I've got some rigging to do!
I have an E4OD behind an Edelbrock carb'ed 302. I use a throttle sensor from a Jeep. It has an arm that rests against a piece that I attached to the throttle linkage. It works quite well, but my trans is controlled by a Baumann Optishift controller. It allows calibration of the TPS, where the factory controller will not.
Baumann also suggests a GM TPS for similar applications. I don't know which one, but you should find that info on the Baumann website.
