Have some small leaks around the manifold gasket. It looks like a bitch to get the bolts out, any tips. I certainly dont want to break a bolt and then have to remove it from the head.
Is it normal to just replace the gasket or should one bite the bullet and replace the manifold at the same time. They look pretty rusted up but dont they all. I won't know what the mating surfaces look like until I get them out. Looks like they are about $100 per side
Is it normal or a good idea to replace the bolts with new ones and if so what size are they.
What gaskets are recommended, Motorcraft only or is there a better solution.
What is the torque spec when replacing bolts.
It sounds like he is talking about exhaust manifolds. How bad do the leaks look? There is no gasket from the factory. The heads and manifolds are machined flat. Once everything warms up they should seal up just fine.
Yup it the exhaust manifold. There are some small black deposits around the manifold where it has been leaking and yes i guess it is a bit more prevalent when it is cold. You get some fumes in the cab when it is cold.
