Start in the center and work your way to the outside alternating back and forth. And for what its worth its best not to put gaskets in. The best method would be to have the manifold surfaced (ground or machined) flat and reinstall without a gasket. But if you don't have any way to have that done then the gasket should be fine.
It ensures that the manifold is perfectly flat and a nice smooth surface. Rule of thumb I use is that if it comes from the factory with a gasket then use a gasket. if comes with no gasket then no gasket. But I have the luxury to have a head surfaces to machine the manifold at my disposal. Not everyone has that.
Edit: if the manifold was leaking due to a missing or broken bolt then you might be able to get away with just replacing the bolt. Just a lot of work if it still leaks.
well my front drive shaft let go and smacked it pretty hard then come the leak so I guess I dont know weather to wait and have manifold ground if I can find a place to do it??? or just put gasket in and be done with it today!!!!!
Ouch!!! Are you sure its leaking at the flange. I would be concerned of a crack with that happening. You would probably need to find a Engine machine shop or even call a local garage and ask them where they have their heads and manifolds surfaced.
there is a guy selling a pair of exhaust manifolds for like $100 shipped you might want to check that out. the drive shaft could have cracked the manifold.
Ok I allready had the gasket so I put it in and took her for a little hot lap and no leaks I will run it till I have time or somthin happens then will get it ground! Now just have to fix 4x4 shifter!!!!
