I installed mine behind the bumper near the frame and patterned the setup after this: SpringerPop's Transmission Filter I used a different plate & hardware for mounting and changed up the fittings to suit my needs. I used two different size hose barb fittings to act as one of the adaptors for my 6.0 trans cooler install. It fits well in that location and is easy enough to access for changes. Pictures may be decieving, but I am able to remove the filter without removing any braces. Pics from my install:
I put on the tape temporarily to protect the filter during test fitting.
Thanks for the replies...I'll be installing next week.

I will second the Diesel Site kit. It is mounted out board of the frame, but several members have used it (I am sure many more) without issue. Almost two years here and no problems.
I do like the idea of tucking it behind the bumper though.
I have the BPD oil cooler upgrade that relocates the oil filter to the driver side wheel well behind the bumper. It works great, and comes with a nifty gaurd that mounts to factory holes. Anyway i mirrored the gaurd for the passenger side wheel well and plan on putting my coolant bypass and trans bypass behind it as well. I have the XDP kit but can not mount it in the location it was designed for because i have the BD POWER air/oil separator kit installed there.
Anybody know where i can get just the remote filter bracket for the trans?
I have the ability to make my own mounting bracket and hoses/lines at work
