292 Remote oil filter

Does anyone know if there's a remote filter kit available? I'd like to be able to use a normal screw-on filter as well as get it away from the steering box.

I am assuming that you have a replaceable cartridge type filter.

There is a kit to convert to a spin on B7A6714-A is the Ford PN I show. As far as making it remote I would look to Jegs or Mr Gasket.

You can see a remote oil filter in a couple pictures in my gallery. I ended up going to Autozone and had them order a universal. Works fine. Just figure out where you will mount it. In my case there were surprisingly few options.

The kits consist of two main components. A bypass adapter that screws to the block where the oil filter used to go, and the remote piece that actually holds the filter.

You can still probably trek on over to Williams Oil Filter Service Co In Tacoma and they might be able to order one.

Small Block Ford Remote Oil Filter Adapter

It should be the same mounting as nearly any older Ford engine. They can also make up the all the connecting hoses too.

I am using the remote filter mount #15 & 16 that I removed from my previous OMC King Cobra 460 V-8 that I removed from my boat a few years ago. It used exactly the same size filter mount.

Depending on how and where you mount your filter, you also might not need a filter that has an anti-drainback valve inside.

I don't have any pictures of it yet but I will. I'll probably also put an air-oil cooler inline too....
