Autolamp headlights dead--burned connector

Autolamp headlights dead--burned connector
My headlights stopped working in auto lamp mode. When manually turned on, they're fine. They just don't turn on when they're supposed at night.
I traced it to a burned connector on the Body Security Module located behind the driver side rear seat. C3008A, pin 8, red-yellow circuit which drives the main power when auto lamp is on. It is a 16AWG wire.
There appears to be an internal relay in the BSM that drives headlight power in lieu of the main headlight switch when autolamp is active
When it's working, the wire and harness warms up approx 40F above ambient (measured with my IR thermometer) which tells me the circuit is a bit undersized. It's not clear to me why one would want to switch headlight power from the rear of the cabin, esp with such a thin wire (cost savings of course).
I have stock 35W headlamps, so I'm not drawing more current than spec
Is there a simple way of opening up the connector to fix the connector pin? Not sure how to pull out that white insert...I'm afraid of breaking it.
