96 Explorer limited.......Left headlight is out on low beam, bulb is verified good, power at fuse box/fuses OK, power at power dist. box/fuses OK......no power at plug on headlight, wires there look fine, works on high beam just fine..........Wiring harness looks like a nightmare to access, anything I may be missing to check?
Thanks for the link!.....Yes, the "check headlamps" warning came on the diagnostic display during daytime use. Am I looking for a connector in the harness for that headlight or could it be in the MFS on the column or headlight switch itself?....no amount of wire twisting or pulling at fuse panel or switch makes any difference.....still nothing at the headlight plug. Any idea on the location of the lamp out module?
Here's a video to show you the repair. If you can solder, a repair might work. A new lamp out module is around $70-80. You can also bypass the module, but I would reair or replace.
I pulled a console like that out of a Mountaineer today and it had the message center. I'll look tomorrow and see if there's a module in it. If so it's yours.
