I lost power to my headlights, but have power to all other exterior lights. Also, my interior light is constant on, until i remove the bulb...lol.
I want to do some intial testing, before i have to take it to the shop... Can someone with knowledge tell me what i should check? I did some checking and how no power to the wire leads comming out the back of both headlight. When i unplug the headlight adapter, i get power to the ground...
First obviously check your fuses. Then pull out the headlamp switch and unplug it and check for burned wiring terminals. Then check for proper power and ground to the various circuits. Ive seen many burned pigtail connectors on headlamp switches and you should replace the pigtail connector if you find it in that condition as well as the switch.
I am having a similar problem. The headlights do not work, but if I pull back on the signal, the high beams come on. I have done some research and it looks like there have been issues with the multifunction switch. I replaced all of the fuses on the panel...are there any others for the headlights that I should check?
Sethro appears to have a 1978, so it doesnt even have a multifuncition switch. Sethro you might want to check the dimmer switch though which I believe is floor mounted on that model.
Unit 73, have you checked the headlamp switch pigtail for burned pins? You can also check for the same problem at the multifunction switch.
Sethro,
The center (single) wire at the dimmer switch is the power from the headlight switch. On either side there are two wires on each terminal that go to the individual headlights. One side is for high beams and the other side for low beams.
I think this applies to both of you with no lights try flipping from high to low and back a couple of times.Seen a lot of these switches get dirty or sticky or something and flipping it back and forth will clean it or unstick it or whatever.

Where can I find a new light switch pigtail for my F350???
I get mine from the dealer, whom usually stocks aftermarket pigtails as well as some factory replacements. I think that one is so common that the local Autozone type stores may carry it.
