Got my superchips 1705. It says there is already a tune in this truck; which I suspected. So I can't use the tuner to change the tune as of now. I will deal with that later but anyone know how I would go about getting the old tune out?
So it is showing me 5 codes. Can someone tell me what these are or point me to a list of codes for a 1997 7.3? P1391, P1393, P0113, P1000, and P0470.
It not the tune on the truck that's stopping it from working. The person that you got it from did not return there truck back to stock so the 1705 is VIN locked. You'll have to send it to superchips to have it reset.
I am not doubting that is the case but the person insisted this was never even plugged into a truck. And reading through the manual, it states that if anything other than a stock tune is in the truck, the tuner will not recognize it. Regardless, I will contact superchips.
I am really more concerned about getting the CE light off. I tried to clear the codes, which it should still do, and the light is still on. It just bugs me. And when I take it to get inspected I don't want them to have the opportunity to question the CE light; even though there is no emissions testing on diesels.
Thanks! So which of these would cause the CE light to come on and any suggestions on how to fix?
P1391 Glow Plug Circuit Low Input Bank No. 1(Right)
P1393 Glow Plug Circuit Low Input Bank No. 2 (Left)
P0113 IAT Sensor Circuit High Input
P0470 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
P1000 OBD 11 Monitor Checks Not Complete. More Driving Required
You must have a Cali truck or the first two codes would not come up. They have a different GPR with 2 big flat metal straps on it. Is that what you have for the GPR? Usually indicates bad GPR or bad glow plugs. Federal trucks don't throw those codes.
IAT is the intake air temp sensor and is located in the air intake box. Do you have the original air filter assembly? Maybe the sensor is just unplugged as that is what the code is indicating.
Likewise on the P0470. Code means "Biased sensor, open signal return. Check the connector or wiring to that sensor.
Don't have a clue on P1000 as I've never seen that one come up before.
will it clear the code's at all?
if so clear them and drive it agian.
i have one that came with another truck i scraped but the computer was gone so it was locked to that computer and tow safe mode was in it. but it will still read all my other truck's code's even my ranger 4 banger.where did you get it? may want to get a refund

You mean like this one?
Can I put a standard GPR on it?
And yes, The air intake is a tymar type so the plug is not plugged into anything.
I drove the truck for about 2 weeks before the CE light came on. And the ce light came on before I changed the intake; so I would imagine it is related to the GPR.

I went through the process to clear the codes and it said it did; but the ce light is still on. When will the CE light go away? As soon as the code is cleared? or is there a delay?
For the IAT you will need to find a sensor, maybe at a junk yard and plug it in for the code to go away. When doing the filter mod most just remove the sensor from the air-box, leave it plugged in and tape it secure somewhere.
Cali trucks require that type of GPR. Those straps are resistors and the PCM monitors the voltage drop across each. The more current the glow plugs draw the more voltage drop so it knows if all the glow plugs are good and working properly. If not it throws the codes.
