inline 6 problem
inline 6 problem
i have an 1982 bronco 4speed with granny gear and the 300 6 ive got a lot of clatter in the head and when the motor gets to a higher rpm it spits and sputters rebuilt the carb replaced a bend push rod still have the clattering any ideas?
What caused the bent pushrod?
Have you run the engine with the valve cover off to see if the noise is just the rocker arms?
Did you check for a rocker arm stud that's pulled out? (It'll be taller than the rest).

Yikes, 3 of them?
The rocker studs are pressed in, so if they slide out, then, as far as I know, you need to have them pulled out, have the holes drilled and tapped, and then new screw-in studs installed.
I would almost think it would be cheaper to purchase a new head than to have that many studs fixed, unless you know a good mechanic who'll do it for cheap.
Someone else may have other ideas though.

i am pulling the head tonight and putting a different head on going to make sure i check the valves in the new head to know they are not stuck really hoping no engine noise after this would really like to drive this thing lol
