Power Stroke Noise Level

I'm sure its been talked about but I'm not very good at finding the right threads yet. So if anyone can point me in the right direction or give me some ideas that would be great. My Power Stroke is loud compared to my buddies Chevy. He told me that all Power Strokes are loud. Is this true? Is there anything I can do to help with the noise. Outside and in the cab? Thanks for any help...

The Duramax uses different injection than the Powerstroke's of our era. The Duramax is a bit more civil, in the fuel delivery sense, where as the 6.0 uses a big hammer to inject the fuel! Basically the High pressure rail system Izusu uses, along with the timing they use, makes them a tad quieter.
Our Powerstroke's, use oil pressure to pressure the injector's, than the FICM fires them, it work's, but with the technology, and pump's that they have they, control it much better.
On a side note, I work with 2 other 6.0 owner's, and their trucks (a 03,and a 04,) and my 06 is noticeably louder.

The 7.3 and 6.0 are louder compared to a Duramax or Cummins.
