I have an 06 6.0 and I use it to hall my boat but last friday I returned from about 300 mile round trip and droped off boat shut engine off and about 2 hours I let it set and fired it up. I begain to miss and got very low power. returned home and pulled fuel filters( I am diesel tech on highway truck and service oil and all filters at 6500 miles with fuel at every 3000 at least) I cked and found fuel seperator had some dirt and trash. Pulled fuel tank and flushed out complete system as best possible........ Now the truck started and ran about 95 % at idle while i cleaned up then when I got in it started missing badly and died now it will not start. I know the 7.3 had a cam/crank sensor that would cause such but very far behind on the 6.0 can anyone help????Thanks i have not been hear in a long time but enjoy all the help and like to return faver some day..
if there was a lot of junk in the fuel system some may have escaped the snare of the filters and gotten into the HPOP. i know that if the oil pressure drops too low coming out of the HPOP the injectors won't fire. also these injectors are very sensitive and could have also messed up a few of them. i am still a rookie so i'll let some of the more seasoned members chime in.
I would also suspect a HPO leak. There is an easy method to test it with A WDS tool, comand IPR to 100% with shop air hooked up to the ICP port. A small amount of air (very hard to hear) leaking at the hpo pump is normal, a audible hiss is the leak.It sometimes can take minutes of pressure to get the leak to make noise.
