Got my longtubes hooked up tonight, but I don't have clearance to put the front driveshaft back in. The driver side longtube is lined up exactly where the front driveshaft goes. Is this a motor mount issue? Are they supposed to be above the driveshaft or tucked closer to the engine?
Flowtechs on a '90 302 4wd. Is it possible that my taller coil springs (F250) in the front are causing the issue?
I'll probably end up bending them, but wanted to get some feedback first. I checked the box and the part number checked out as F150/Bronco 302 4wd Longtube headers.
Is there a number stamped on the headers anywhere? The reason I ask, there is a possibility they were boxed wrong or mislabeled. It has been known to happen...
If there are markings on the headers make sure they match the number on the box......
Did you buy truck headers or Mustang headers? The fit of these Flowtechs has gotten worse but I still had lots of driveshaft clearance on the set I put in a few years ago... I don't suppose it's possible they screwed them up even more since then...
Well once we remembered that we still had a jack lifting the engine up we let it back down to check clearance. I'll probably still need to bend it a little, but it looks like it should line up tucked right between the driveshaft and engine.
Anyone use heat shields around the starter with the longtubes? I don't want to fry that thing and have to pull it back out of that tight fit down the road.
