tailgate hardware

Can I ask what you guys do to restore the hinges, ***** and other parts for the tailgate? Mine are all in good shape, just look bad. Saw a whole set on ebay that were silvercoated, looked nice. Just looking for ideas.

You might consider powdercoating. I'm sure good ole engine enamel would last quite a while.

Powdercoating would be like paint I think and eventually wear off.

I have all the hardware just wanna make it look new again and make sure it lasts.

Cad plated ? Chasetruck had some done and it looked pretty nice in pics.

Powdercoating is way tougher than paint if applied correctly. The only place I can think of having any problems would be the strikers.

I powercoated mine and they turned out pretty good. The coating is durable, but they do show some wear on the latch brackets. Much better than paint.

If the hardware is just rusty and you want to clean that off, soak the parts in white vinegar for a day or two. Takes the rust off really well and it's plenty cheap.
