Who has the best replacement tailgate? I messed my original up and it was really rusty. All my hardware is good and my aluminum trim panel is still mint.
I've had expierence with the eBay tailgate they make for our trucks. I got it with my truck and it was in bad shape. It was bowing very bad and it was splitting at the seams on the side where the metal comes together. It wouldn't shut right, and after loading my quad in the back a few times the tailgate was completely shot and would not close without lifting it onto the latch. And then I got a rustfree tailgate off of a 1990 f250 and no problems since, and it weighs a lot more than then eBay tailgate (a lot more heavy duty). So if you don't use your tailgate very much the eBay one might do but it just isn't build very well. But the price is appealing with it being ready to paint.
Well Flee-bay was not a good place to look for OEM tailgates as everyone on there thinks they are worth their weight in gold. However I found a couple basically mint condition OEM tailgates within an hour or so of my house on Facebook Marketplace. Going to go get one of the two. One of them was listed for only $150 but I haven't heard back from them yet.
Umm I don't know. It was straight and cleanly made. for 100.00 it works great and looks great.. I need to update my note. DON'T BUY THE TAILGATE. I just went to install the guts, the metal inside the tailgate is glued together and has pulled apart on mine. While it looks fine it has to be weaker. I also just checked it to the ford gate I have and it is half the weight. The ford is much heaver and stronger. It sucks as now I have to fix it. I will be attaching a section of metal plate to the backside for strength. The painted side looks fine. Sorry for the bad advice.
