Tailgate decals

Anyone re-pop the tailgate decals? Whether online vendor or eBay? Searching is netting me zilch and I know it is way cheaper than having a sign shop do it as I had decals made for my motorcycle and was quoted 3X the price for decals on my 74 versus what I got from the net.

But the RANGER tailgate decals seem elusive at the moment.

I'm not sure exactly what you want, but LMC Truck carries Ford logos. Check their website.

I am referring to the individual F O R D tailgate letters not a blue oval available everywhere.

LMC does dot carry tailgate letters, nor does BOTP or Bronco Graveyard.

Can you paint the letters on? Might be better than decals if done right.

I'll likely have to go that route. On another truck I was able to find some chrome decal letters that really made the tailgate pop. A sign shop we use at work will want about $70, too much in my mind.

With a metallic silver paint job, in your opinion white or black letters?

Ask a pinstriper they might be able to paint it for cheaper then the decal and they can do custom stuff to make it look better then just a decal.

I'd say black to match the rocker panels, if the truck your talking about is the one in your signature. However, if you want it to pop then go with white or red.

I'll be painting the truck later this month, a solid metallic silver. Likely Ford Silver Birch Metallic.

I'll probably go black letters.

Color choice

Jim,

I'm with Mike on this - go Black. However, if you have a third color (red/burgundy interior), you may want to go with Red (burgundy/dark red) as also suggested. Or Black with Red pinstriping. Dependent on whether you can get a projector and a steady hand, you might be able to do it yourself if you are watching the budget close.

Good luck! Let us know how you made out.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!!! You the man! I was always searching Tailgate Decals and Stickers and not LETTERS...

I wish they were Black though... the letters on my tailgate now are Red and don't look too bad, but I am pretty sure Black would really pop against some fresh silver paint.

Another clueless ebay seller. This Red-Orange transfer letter kit (E7TZ-9942528-AD) is not for Rangers (or Bronco's)...it's for 1987/91 F150/350 Stylesides ONLY.

This is the part number for Rangers: E6TZ-9942528-AD - Red Orange / The Ford letters on F150/350 tailgates are a different size than on Rangers.

We may be at odds here on FTE, but I hate to see anyone buy the wrong parts...especially off ebay, where most of the sellers haven't a single clue!

1987/91 Rangers: Ford didn't offer black, just: Blue, Charcoal, Red-Orange, Tan, White (Sandalwood 1990/91), Silver (1991).

If you'll settle for Charcoal:

E7TZ-9942528-BP .. Transfer Kit, F O R D Letters on Ranger Tailgate-Charcoal / Obsolete

Last MSRP: $20.11 // Dealer net cost: $12.03.

BILLY CAIN FORD in Commerce GA has 1 = 706-335-3105.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 5 = 800-543-4959.

The 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com.

Thanks for looking up the info... I'll make a couple phone calls tomorrow.

Charcoal should work perfectly... anyone know if these decals can be clearcoated?
