I have a 97 F-150 4.6L, are there any other spark plug options that are similar performance to motorcraft? Perhaps NGK? I'm relatively new to these trucks and would like some more info from some other people about what they seem to like/dislike! Thanks!
I sell auto parts for a living and 99% of all ase certified mechanics want motorcraft for ford, delco for chevy, champion for dodge and small engines ngk/denso for most imports (nissan, honda) and race applications and bosch for euros. I had an old mechanic tell me one time the manufactures spend thousands upon thousands of dollars designing that factory plug for the application so why not use it ?
also motorcraft and autolite are manufactured by honeywell
I tried the Bosch multi-electrode spark plugs to get a little more power out of a 4.6 I had in a 2002 Mustang. It ran like crap. Stay with the Motorcraft. When I switched back to the factory plug, it ran MUCH better. If you want a performance boost, look somewhere other than plugs. The stock plugs are fine.
