Will this programmer have any negative effects on the life span of my vehicle (engine, trans, rear end etc.)? It is my daily driver and the heaviest trailer I tow is an enclosed 6x14 single axle enclosed trailer. The company claims that even at stage three settings I don't have to worry about EGT's, is this true? I would like to get a little more mpg's and have it shift a little harder but not at the cost of reduced life span of the drive train or the truck in general.
it is generally recommended to stay very far away from those programers and rather use a chip tuner from one of the better tuners like DP, PHP, Beans, or Tony Wildman.
generic tunes that do more harm than good.
those programmers remove the stock tuning program and replace it with theirs. so it is very easy to corrupt the program and damage or destroy the computer.
a chip keeps the stock tune and augments it with the tune written on the chip.
problems? just remove the chip and everything is still like it left the factors. with the programer, you have to hope you can remove the tune and return it to stock.
many many people have found out the hard way that don't always happen, and they then need to but a new computer to get the truck running again.
