Hi - I have a 2000 PSD four door 4x4 with 305's on it and I tow a trailer that trailer and cargo weigh about 6,000 pounds. My truck has 3.73's in it. I am not looking for smokey burn outs, although they are fun, I am looking for the best chip to make my truck tow better and perform stock when there is no trailer on it. The tire size has hurt my performance and I want it back - what are your suggestions? Thanks!
I love my Edge Evolution programmer and would highly recommend it to anyone. Simple to program and only takes about 4 minutes compared to my old Hypertech taking about 10-15 minutes. The tow safe program feels very solid and smooth and the race and extreme programs are a blast.
I'd suggest a programmer as well. I had a Superchips tuner before I got my flip chip and it made a big difference. If you're not out trying to beat everyone in a race it'll do ya just fine for not as much $$$!
What do you guys mean by "harsh"?? I've heard and experienced in other trucks that the performance chip will make the transmission shift harder, lock into gear instead of sliding around, which I think is better. Or is there another effect that you guys are referring too?
I bought a Superchips tuner off of a buddy. You can get a used one for half the price of a new one. It's an 80hp chip and I can put it in the tow/haul mode that puts it at 60hp. What an amazing difference even the 60hp makes. It was the equivalant to me drinking about 3 cups of expresso. Really woke the motor up! I run it the 60hp mode now because I don't have exhaust yet. I'm very happy with it.
I run the 1705 tuner and like it real well for towing and normal driving but thinking of getting a flip chip because Im tired of it taking so long to tune.
